Roll with It

You gotta roll with it
You gotta resolve your dice
You gotta card to play
Don’t let shields get in your way
‘Cause it’s all too much melee to take

Focus to any side
Don’t leave a blank behind
You wanna discard with glee
If you’re top-tabling with me

I think I’ve got removal for that side
I think I’m gonna resolve those ranged for five
I’m thinking it’s time I overwrite

You gotta roll with it
You gotta resolve your dice
You gotta card to play
Don’t let shields get in your way
‘Cause it’s all too much indirect to take.

The Renewed Prime K-one-zero Open in Nottingham saw players in the UK come back together to roll dice across a table again for the first time in a long time. I wasn’t even playing but it was an absolute blast and great to see everyone. 5 rounds of Swiss and a Top 4 Cut ending up with our very own Echo3ofclubs taking the trophy with Pre Vizsla and Hondo Ohnaka and Extremist Campaign. Any that didn’t make the top 4 took part in a mini Destiny Smash event which saw Lucas Freebody come out on top.
However, today’s article isn’t about that event, we’ll get a separate write up of that event soon. Today, we make sure you know what in person Destiny is coming in the next few months in the UK. Without further ado we have the following two events coming up and they are both epic.

Cantina Royale – Stockport

Date and Time – Saturday the 30th April at 9am
Venue – Element Games, 1st Floor, Hallam Business Centre, Hallam St, Stockport, SK2 6PT
Entry Fee – £20 per ticket. paypal this to: borisinuk@hotmail.com (friends and family) as this is a charity event with the proceeds being donated to cyclists fighting cancer.
Format – Highlander FFG Standard (excluding Transformations). To clarify this means all sets from Legacies to Covert Missions produced by FFG with all errata and balance of the forces as per when the game ended. The only deviation from standard is that it is Highlander format so there can be only one of any card in your 30 card deck. You may repeat non-unique characters as you wish. Cards not in the spirit of the Highlander format, namely Solidarity, Armoured Reinforcement (newly added following feedback), Order 66, Lightsaber Mastery and Double Down are banned along with Fateful Companions. If we have forgotten any cards that let you bring extra cards then assume you can’t. There can be only one and 30 total in deck.
Rounds – Swiss rounds appropriate for the number of players and a cut to the top players appropriate for the number in attendance for the finals and eventual champion.
Prizes – These have always been insane for this event that has prizes for players and a huge raffle to hand out a whole bundle more.

This is the 4th annual (ish) event and it’s a whole lot of fun. It used to be one of the Highlights of the UK Destiny Calendar. We hope the challenge of a Highlander deck will take the competitive known decks away (we can’t take the competitive players away though) and create a bit more of a deck building challenge for everyone.

Back when the event was originally posted there was 46 players who were listed as attended and most had already paid. You will know who you are. I suggest you message Boris or post on the facebook events to confirm attendance.
